Today I am in the town of Jackson MS. We have a day off, and will be at Mississippi College tomorrow.

I have supplied a link to Cash’s song for your pleasure.
Jackson – Johnny Cash

Tonight we went going bowling at Larwil Lanes, in Jackson, MS. What was supposed to be a friendly game to relieve stress from the road turned into a drag out, throw down band vs crew bowl fest. After all was said and done, after two games, the socre is BAND: 1, CREW:1. Next tournamnet in Santa Fe.

Mobile, Alabama. The 5th Most Polite City in the US

Today I am in Mobile Alabama. Got here early and walked around. I had a great breakfast on the square at Spot of Tea. Great food, and the 5th most polite server in Mobile. I had a seafood benedict. I then moved around the downtown area a little. After we got into the theatre, Tift Merritt, who is supporting this leg of the tour was on the piano. I also was able to see some of the Red Hat Society ladies. I did not have my camera, but here is a good shot to give you an idea. I wonder where they fall of the Imus debate? See below.

It was a good show, the band seems to be finally linking and connecting on stage. The Saenger Theater is a good venue, not alot of storage for larger productions but works perfectly for this type of tour. The Blue Man group tour was also in town at the Civic. I have old friend, Josh Smith, on that tour and it was good to catch up.

Tomorrow, JAckson, MS for a day off.

We started the tour in Savannah at The Lucas Theatre. 1921 restored theatre, very nice. I walked along the river in the morning, and through a few parks. The trees had the Spanish Moss hanging from the branches. One of these parks was named for Ogelthorpe, who I think was one of the first settlers to set foot in what is now Goergia. The band had a good show, even though it was their forst date bacj after six months off. We have a new sound engineer ont he tour that is doing a good job, and we are all stoked to have him along.

Beyond that, Kurt Vonnegut died today.

Wanee Festival, Live Oak, FL

The Mule at Wanee FestNickel Creek played at the Wanee Festival in Florida last night. This is basically a festival built around The Allman Brothers, and some of their spin off bands, like Gov’t Mule. It was a beautiful site called the Spirit of The Swaunee Music Park. The people working there were very proud of it. Florida is a weird place to begin with, and throwing 5,000 or so people together and you get to see weird FLorida things. I saw:
Grown men playing rock, paper, scissor and really enjoying themselves.
I ate fried pickles. They were great.
Prison Guard officers used as security for the event. Very firm.
Alot of burnt skin, and sweaty feet.
I saw Robert Randolph sneeze six times in a row while carrying food, so he could not cover his mouth, and DAMN! It was shower time.

Beyond that, it was your average hippie festival. Just this time all the hippies had Southern Accents.

Beyond that, Don Ho died today.
